On October 4, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) issued an update statement strengthening its position linking illicit black market and THC vaping products to an overwhelming majority of the reported vaping illnesses. While the exact cause of the related lung diseases is still unknown, the FDA advises consumers to avoid tampering with vapor devices and strongly urges against the purchase and use of black market products, particularly those that containing THC.
